How pickup works
When you donate an RV or motorhome to Bay Wheels, we ensure a seamless pickup process tailored to the size and type of your vehicle. Because of the unique requirements of RV transport, we typically utilize specialized RV-transport flatbeds or drive-away services. Most pickups are coordinated with local storage lots, especially if you are unable to be present during the pickup. We also take into account the vehicle's dimensions, as most states require a maximum height of 13'6" for safe routing. Our team will coordinate with RV parks or storage facilities to facilitate the collection, making the entire process hassle-free for you.
What drives donation value
The value of your donated RV or motorhome is influenced by several key factors. The condition of essential house systems—such as the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning—holds more weight in determining value than the drivetrain. Any signs of water damage can significantly devalue your vehicle, so it’s crucial to disclose any issues. Recent maintenance records can also enhance the vehicle's worth, with spring auctions generally yielding the highest values. For classic RVs, we highly recommend obtaining an appraisal, as this will assist in accurately determining value for IRS purposes when filing Form 8283 Section B.
Documentation you need
- Title of the vehicle
- Current registration documents

- MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) for off-road models
San Jose specifics
San Jose has unique considerations when it comes to donating RVs. California DMV rules require proper titling and registration documentation to process your donation smoothly. It’s important to note that while most vehicles can be accepted directly with a title, some off-road models may require a Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin. Understanding whether your RV is state-titled or on a bill of sale can also affect the donation process, so be prepared to provide the necessary documentation to ensure compliance with local regulations.
